A Neonatal nurse is a nurse that works with newborn infants born with a variety of problems ranging from prematurity, birth defects, infection, cardiac malformations, and surgical problems. Work Activities/Daily Tasks The duties for a neonatal nurse may vary slightly at each hospital, but overall their care tasks are the same. There are 3 important duties of a neonatal nurse and they are General Care, Special Needs, and Emotional Support. In these 3 main duties a neonatal nurse is the primary caregiver and makes sure everything goes fine with infants they are caring for. |

EducationA neonatal nurse must be a registered nurse (RN) with a four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN). You must be certified in Neonatal Resuscitation and/or Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing. You may also be required to complete a minimum number of years of clinical experience in a hospital setting.
There are many schools outside of Georgia that you can attend as well as in Georgia. Schools can cost different prices depending on what level you are attending for. It will take up to 5-6 years to become a qualified Neonatal Nurse. |
